Red Hot Chili Peppers's "Unlimited Love" Album Review

The Red Hots

During the course of 40 years, The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released 12 albums, 64 Singles, sold over 80 million albums worldwide, and made it into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame. I guess It's safe to say that they have been quite successful. On April 1st, 2022, The Red Hots released their newest album titled "Unlimited Love" which contains 17 songs and has a runtime of 73 minutes. As a relatively new fan of the band, I will be sharing my thoughts on the new album starting with "These Are the Ways".

These Are The Ways

This song, without a doubt, is my favorite on the entire album. These Are The Ways has me headbanging, jumping off walls, stomping my feet, and screaming every time I hear it. I'm giving my biggest props to Chad Smith on drums and Flea on bass, the post-chorus makes me ascend when I hear their instruments. I don't think I will ever shut up about how enjoyable this song is. It starts pretty slow but speeds up after the second verse. The chorus to me is just preparing you for the best piece of music that will ever manifest itself in your ears. The way the post-chorus makes me feel is just indescribable. I have no idea how other people feel about it but you just have to listen for yourself, It's too good. Verse three slows down and repeats the song again and finishes with another post-chorus. Though this album was only released yesterday, I have managed to listen to this song way more than ten times and I don't think I will ever stop recommending it to others.

Black Summer

Black Summer was released on February 4th, 2022 so we've had some more time to let this one sink in. John Frusciante on guitar makes this song feel mellow and calming which I really enjoyed. The first two verses are, in my opinion, the best part of the song. It's super catchy and when you learn the lyrics, Black Summer is a 10/10 for karaoke. The chorus is rather short, but still hypes me up when I hear it. The way Anthony Keidis sings Black Summer makes it so entertaining to listen to. After the chorus, Flea and John have a guitar solo that's followed by a bridge. The second chorus hits entirely different than the first, which then carries us into the outro. Black Summer is one of those songs that you can listen to with almost anyone, anywhere, or anytime and still get all the fun out of it.

Veronica

If I were to describe this song in one word it would be something like "groovy". This song just makes me want to get up and dance. It's slow and sweet but catchy and lyrically it's very lively. I believe this song is about "finding love in a place of empathy" considering the chorus consists of Anthony singing "Danger" four times over and speaking of different people and their perspectives of love. That is what truly draws me into this song, everyone experiences love differently whether it be good or bad and I think that to be astonishing. I don't want to break down this song verse by verse, but rather strongly encourage you to listen to it yourself and feel the lyrics, the guitar, the drum, and the bass.

The Close

I've only been a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan for about four months which gives a different perspective on this new album. I have abandoned all of the other bands and artists I enjoy for the past 24 hours just so I can keep this album on repeat and experience each song again and again. I fell in love with this band through the songs "Dark Necessities" and "Emit Remmus", I don't think I will be getting tired of them anytime soon. If you've enjoyed any of their music in the past I cannot motivate you enough to listen to this album, It truly is a work of art.
