Where is Crestone?

With an elevation of 7,923 ft and a population of 128, Crestone Colorado is home to people who enjoy nature, the arts, and seclusion. The town is located one hour away from the biggest city (Alamosa or Salida). It is also placed at the foot of the San Juan Mountain Range, making the drive into town one you cannot take your eyes off of. The mountain range spans over 150 miles and by staying here you have access to one of its 58 fourteeners. Driving into Crestone, CO.
What does Crestone have to offer?
Though it may be small, Crestone is full of things to do. In town there are numerous shops such as the Elephant Cloud Market, The Artisans Museum, and Crestone Creative Trading Co. Every building is unique in its own way, for example the Elephant Cloud Market is painted top to bottom with beautiful designs, colors and creatures. Crestone is a very artistic town where every mural, painting, book, or photo is made by a Crestone local. In the Artisian Museum, local aesthete's get to sell their very own creations. While visiting I bought a piece titled "Patience" by Desi Faraci. Though Crestone is small in population, it has very much diversity. The store "Crestone Creative Trading Co." is owned by a Taiwanese woman and her husband. They often travel to Asia and purchase items to tell at their store such as tote bags, pants, book marks, incense, and lots more. Those are not the only stores of course, they have much more to explore and tons more to see.

Where do I stay?

With a town this small you may think that there are not very many options when it comes to lodging, and I'm here to tell you, you're wrong. If your looking for a long, cozy stay to soak up the beauty of Crestone, you may want to look for an Airbnb. Crestone is spread across 246 acres of land, most of which can be purchased in built on for pretty cheap. With there being so much space and so little people, a lot of residents rent out "entire home" airbnbs for tourists and visitors. When I visited crestone, I stayed in an airbnb and got to wake up in a warm house, in a comfortable bed, with a window view I will never forget. Now, although airbnbs are very nice, they aren't the only option for your stay. Spread
across the town there are a total of two "bed in breakfasts'" and two inns. After looking through customer reviews, all of these places seem very homey and never failed to meet peoples standards of comfortable. When it comes to comfort Airbnb may be the best option, but if your looking for a shorter, more affordable trip, bed in breakfast is definitely the way to go.
So why Crestone?
If you are looking for a getaway vacation filled with exploring a small town, art murals, museums, and relaxation, then Crestone is the perfect place for you. Not only does it offer great stores, food, people, and places, Crestone is also filled with people who are happy to meet you. The locals of Crestone are definitely some of the most cordial people you will ever meet. Happy to offer you advice on where to go or what to do, as well as simple acts of service like holding the door open for you or greeting you with a "good morning", Crestonians will make you feel welcomed in their home. In my short visit to Crestone I was able to try new foods, go on long hikes, relax in the comfort of someone else's home, meet new people, and make tons of memories. Crestone is easily one of the best small towns in Colorado and is 100% worth visiting.
